The Vendor is required to provide an armed security officer according to the specifications provided herein for the surveillance and protection of the interior and exterior of authorized district location as well as the security screening with metal detectors.
- Services shall include all labor, materials, tools, supplies, trained personnel, insurance, direct and indirect administrative costs, overhead, all other costs and charges, and services necessary to provide unarmed security officer services
- Provide the telephone numbers of managers, supervisors and executive personnel.
- The security officer shall become familiar with the layout of the building and all emergency exits.
- General Duties:
• Metal detector screening services
• Incidents or conditions reporting, including but not limited to, fire, criminal activity, chemical spills, telephone outages, power outages, and equipment malfunction, etc.
• Make regularly scheduled tours of the premises, checking all doors, windows, and lights.
• Meet with agency for the purposes of discussing concerns.
• Managing the flow of employees and visitors entering and exiting the buildings.
• Participate with assigned duties during emergency operations/evacuation plans including fire, bomb and active shooter or shelter‐in‐place events.
• Assist in after-school activities, including but not limited to, athletic events, school social events, etc.
- Metal Detector Screening Services
• Walk-through metal detectors will be located in each middle school, high school, adult education center, or district building.
• Prepare Security Screening with Walk‐through Metal and Hand‐held Metal Detector
• Observe person(s) walking through the walk‐through metal detector and shift personal items.
• Identify activation signals in accordance with established organizational procedures.
• Conduct a verbal check followed by hand‐held metal detector screening when an activation signal is identified according to organizational procedures.
• Prohibit entry/exit and inform the appropriate authority where a person refuses to be screened in accordance with organizational procedures and client requirements.
• Handle prohibited items in accordance with organizational procedures and premises requirements.
• Conduct a screening of a person in accordance with the limits of authority of the Screening
• Officer and established organizational procedures, and in the presence of authorized personnel.
• Report to the appropriate authority when a suspicious item is found.
- Conduct Manual Bag Search
• Identify the need to undertake a bag search and inform the person courteously whose items are to be manually searched to comply with instructions from screening.
• Conduct a manual bag search arising from a suspicious item found.
• Surrender unauthorized items to the school administration or the security lead.
- Campus/Location Security and Patrol
• Patrols school facilities (e.g. grounds, parking lots, roads, buildings, adjacent areas, etc.) for the purpose of providing administrative visibility, maintaining security, and deterring crime.
• Checking all doors, windows, and other points of entry to confirm they are locked/secured when not in use.
• Responds to emergency situations for the purpose of addressing immediate safety concerns.
• Detects, investigates, and reports unauthorized or suspicious persons, vehicles, and activities.
• Assists administrators and staff in crisis and emergencies.
• Supervises and directs pupil movement.
• Notifies the administrative staff, police, fire department, or other appropriate authorities of security or emergencies.
• Assists with fire drills and other emergency building evacuations.
• Operates a vehicle, if necessary, equipped with a manual or automatic transmission, to drive safely in all traffic conditions.
• Communicates school policies and enforcement procedures to students, personnel, and visitors for the purpose of ensuring their understanding and the potential consequences of violation.
