The Vendor is required to provide a comprehensive software system that will enable the city to efficiently and accurately collect, process, and report ridership data from automatic passenger counters (APCS) on its big blue bus (BBB) fleet to the national transit database,
- Objectives
1. Implement a system that accurately processes APC data for National Transit Database reporting of the following:
a. Unlinked Passenger Trips (UPT)
b. Passenger Miles Traveled (PMT)
2. Support BBB in obtaining and maintaining FTA approval for APC data usage by providing the following:
a. Sound sampling procedures
b. Data validation processes
3. Documentation of methodologies
4. Provide comprehensive ridership reporting capabilities for service planning purposes
5. Integrate with BBB's existing systems
6. Implement a solution that is user-friendly, reliable, and maintainable
7. Current Environment
a. Fleet Size: 195 buses total, with 71 buses currently equipped with APCs
b. APC Hardware: IRMA MATRIX Gen 4-5 APC
c. Scheduling Software: Trapeze FX/Blockbuster (Version 21) for fixed-route scheduling and run cutting
d. AVL System: Clever Devices applications for APC data and AVL capabilities
e. National Transit Database Reporting Status: BBB has successfully obtained certification from the Federal Transit Administration to use the current APC system for National Transit Database reporting.
- The System should provide tools and reports to analyze ridership patterns for service planning purposes, including route-level, stoplevel, by service day, and time-of-day analysis.
- System Integration: The solution shall integrate with the Big Blue Bus existing environment, including Trapeze FX/Blockbuster (Version 21) for schedules and Clever Devices for CAD/AVL functionality.
- User Experience: The System should be intuitive and user-friendly with webbased access, interactive dashboards and customizable reporting capabilities.
