RFP Description

The Vendor is required to provide to complete a full redesign and rebuild of the village website which will include significant updates to information architecture, content structure, user experience, visual design, codebase, CMS configuration, hosting approach, and visual content.
- The redesigned website must modernize the digital experience, align with the East Village brand, and improve usability, accessibility, and performance.
- Deliver a website that, at minimum:
•    Integrates leading web design best practices including meeting WCAG level aa (web content accessibility guideline), functionality, navigation, UX, UI, compatibility, responsiveness, etc.;
•    Uses a mobile-first, responsive approach and supports major browsers/devices;
•    Delivers an improved information architecture and navigation model based on user needs and content priorities;
•    Utilizes a CMS that can be primarily managed internally following handover;
•    Considers or recommends an approach for website support and maintenance services;
•    Considers a design that is in line with the east village brand identity and identified target audience;
•    Provides a clear linking and integration strategy to the corporate agency website and considers integrations with:
o    Email management (mailchimp);
o    Social media;
o    Analytics;
•    Responds to challenges, as noted below;
•    Includes research, strategy and information architecture, UX/UI design, design & development, CMS, QA testing, and training & support and a proposal for quality management, and;
•    Includes a content audit and migration approach.
- The current website uses a combination of legacy, high-traffic plugins (e.g., calendar and business directory) that require improved integration to better support user journeys, alongside newer tools (e.g., Safety Dashboard) that must remain compatible with and supported by the redesigned site;
- The current site does not have the ability to schedule content to be published or have version control options;
- The current site was built on a legacy SquareSpace template, and the template is no longer up to date with current SquareSpace functionality, lacking in current design and UX principles.
- User Experience and Content Structure
o    The site currently serves multiple purposes (neighbourhood information, events, development updates, business listings, and community stewardship (i.e., safe, clean, awesome and maintenance) without clearly prioritizing user journeys or primary calls to action for different audience segments;
o    Content is largely presented as static information rather than as a dynamic, evolving narrative that reflects momentum, progress, and future phases of development. The new website should support opportunities for user engagement on the site and integration with social content along with support for Newsletter integration;
o    The mobile experience does not fully support discovery, real-time updates, or intuitive access to high-interest content;
o    Accessibility considerations/challenges. The current site does not meet WCAG Level AA.
- Retail, Business Support
o    The current site provides limited tools to create awareness of, and meaningful discovery around, community retailers and businesses beyond static listings;
o    The current website does not support the future potential for integration of a retailer or business portal to support content updates, storytelling, and engagement at scale;
o    The new website should better reflect the broader east village ecosystem by supporting multiple voices, including developers, businesses, community partners, and agency, within a cohesive narrative framework.
